City on a Hill: Becoming a Church the World Needs

Series Description

The stats are out. They get repeated often: the Church in America is in decline, and has been for a while now. What some churches are selling, at least by and large, people aren’t buying. Which prompts the question: what kind of church does the world need? What type of church would people see, and then see value in? And then, how do we become that type of church together?

There is a vision for that kind of church, but it’s nothing new. In fact, it’s really, really old. In the gospels, Jesus lays out his vision for the Church being a “city on a hill.” A light that shines in the darkness and gives light to the entire world. So when we ask what kind of church the world needs, we’re really asking what kind of church Jesus himself envisions.

This series takes six weeks to explore what it looks like to be a city on a hill for our time and place.
